In the competition for the new building of the Bildungsakademie of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Crafts, our joint proposal with Peter W. Schmidt Architekten received a commendation.
The design approaches the open space not as a mere aesthetic addition, but as an integral component of the learning environment. Courtyards provide daylight, fresh air, and high-quality places to linger, while arcades ensure short, sheltered paths between the various areas of use.
Open learning zones, nature-oriented retreats, and diverse perennial gardens foster not only biodiversity but also the well-being of users. Native trees, ecological retention areas, and thoughtfully designed transitions between architecture and landscape create a sustainable setting for education, interaction, and the future.
