Limespark Elementary School, Öhringen

Schoolyard with high-quality outdoor spaces

In Öhringen’s rapidly growing "Limespark" district, a new piece of city has been emerging since the early 2000s—now joined by the construction of a four-track elementary school as a forward-looking educational space. On behalf of club L94 Landscape Architects, we managed the tendering, contracting, and construction supervision of the outdoor facilities—delivered on time, on budget, and with precision.
The exterior areas combine practical functionality with a high level of design quality: The schoolyard, sports field, grass terrace, 36 parking spaces, stormwater retention zones, and a nature-inspired "mini wilderness" come together to form a cohesive and multifunctional outdoor environment. A mix of surface types, durable play equipment, and smart planting strategies offer diverse spaces for play, activity, and relaxation.
Green spaces play a defining role: To the south of the parking area, a meadow with tree plantings was created to serve as a retention basin. To the west of the schoolyard, a carefully designed wildflower meadow with footpaths adds a playful and ecological layer to the school grounds—while also offering the local neighborhood a community garden space that fosters nature, learning, and social connection.
